Materials

The materials needed will vary from discipline to discipline and student to student. Students are responsible for acquiring their own music and equipment. Students should obtain the necessary study materials as quickly as possible. In some cases, if the equipment or literature is not readily available to the student, the instructor may purchase or obtain the necessary item(s) at the student's expense.

Practice & Study

The old adage, "practice makes perfect," is not entirely true. Only "perfect practice makes perfect." Accordingly, a great deal of the lesson time is devoted to learning good rehearsal techniques.
The instructor seldom has to ask how much a student has practiced during the week-- the level of preparation will speak for itself. Clearly, the amount of effective practice/study and the level of success are directly related. The questions of "how much" and "how long" are left to the individual student. The answers depend on how much the student wants to learn and how quickly (s)he wants to progress in his/her studies. Consistency is more important than the amount of time spent at any single sitting. Therefore, it is STRONGLY suggested, that students practice/study at least a few minutes every day.

Recitals

A recital is given at the end of each semester. Every student will be expected to perform at least one selection at each recital. Performance practice is an essential element in musical instruction. It provides valuable experience for the student. It also provides opportunity to demonstrate musical accomplishments to family and friends.

Tuition & Payment

Check the tuition schedule made available to each student prior to each semester for the current tuition rate. All rates and schedules are subject to change from semester to semester.

Attendance

Due to the nature of private music instruction, consistency in both lesson attendance and practice are essential to the students' success. The following policies serve to maximize the students' learning potential throughout the semester.

        - The tuition paid will be viewed as a form of contract upon which the instructor will expect, unless otherwise notified, that the student will be present and on time for the scheduled lessons.
        - If, for any reason, the student will be unable to meet at the scheduled time, it is his/her responsibility to notify the instructor at least 24 hours before the regularly scheduled lesson. It is also
his/her responsibility to see that a make-up lesson is scheduled (if desired).
        - MAKE-UP LESSONS WILL NOT BE GIVEN WITHOUT NOTIFICATION OF ABSENCE 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE MISSED LESSON EXCEPT IN CASES OF PERSONAL
EMERGENCY OR ILLNESS. (In these cases, please phone as soon as possible.)
        - If the instructor must cancel a lesson, the student will be notified as soon as possible. The instructor will be responsible for scheduling a make-up lesson. If a suitable make-up time cannot
be arranged, a tuition credit may be applied.
